Current Events

CURRENT EVENTS


TITLE: Fire hydrant sends water spout 8m high.

WHEN:It happened on the 5th of july.

WHO: The people that were involved were the people that were round the time it happened, the police and also the people who came too check the water hydrant.

WHERE: It happened  in auckland O'Rorke Road, Penrose

WHAT: There was a water hydrant that exploded like the water came shooting out of the pipe. The people that were around that time were just watching the water come out. The water that came shooting out was like 8m high. The pressure was dangerous.

WHY or HOW it happened: It happened because the water hydrant burst out into the carpark.

What do you think the author wanted you to learn from this article?
I think the author wanted us to learn was to be careful around water pipes because if the water pipe burst out then the pressure from the water can be dangerous.

Term 2-3

Reading:
This term I learnt how to work on a novel study. A novel study was when the teacher Mrs Anderson set up different questions and activities on a google doc and you have to record on that document. You also have to read the book that you are given. I also learnt how too look at different parts of the book: characters, dictionary meanings, summaries, predictions, interesting vocabulary, and more.

My reading goal for Term 3 is to be able to retell the story quicker and too be able to know what I have read.
To achieve my goal I will need to work harder, read more books and practice retelling stories in my own words.
Writing:
This term I learnt how to write summaries about Super Finn the book that I read for my novel study. I also learnt how too work collaboratively with a group on Matariki. We were able too choose our own groups and too work in that group too create a presentation on Matariki.

My writing goal for Term 3 is to keep practicing on writing more interesting summaries and too use interesting words that would hook in or captivate the reader in.
To achieve my goal I will need to work harder on my summaries and what I write, also too keep reading so that I can come across interesting words that I can steal or use in my stories.
Maths:
This term I learnt about percentages. Mrs Anderson chose a group too work with on learning about percentages. I was in that group. It was very difficult because I haven't learnt about percentages. So Mrs Anderson started from the beginning and went too through the steps carefully so that everyone was on the same page. We then got help by using the coloured blocks and then most of the students in the group started too get it.

My maths goal for Term 3 is too practice my times tables and too also just learn or go through like the percentages, decimals, fractions and more.
To achieve my goal I will need to set myself task that will help me improve too the next level. I need too also remember too learn my times tables because that is very important and you would need your times tables too help you with your fractions or percentage. So that is what I need too achieve for my goal.

Personal:
This term I need to take risks in my learning and also outside at lunch like sports. I also need to be a role model and take on leaderships roles.

My personal goal for Term 3 is to get involve
and show my leadership without being ask.


To achieve my goal I will need to think about who I follow and what I do before I do it. I need too also remember too be a role model and not too follow bad influence.

This is my Goal setting. I wrote down everything I learnt, what my goal is and what how I achieve my goal. I had to fill out all the subjects that Mrs Anderson set. As you can see I have things that I need to work on and I now know what I need to do to achieve it. I also need to work hard on presenting my work with high standards. I need to also take on leadership roles without being ask.

My Project

This is my project I have created. On ground floor I created the classroom of how Room 9 is already set out in 2013. As you can see I added in desk and chairs. The colour of the chairs are red because that is the colour of our chairs. Everything that I created in the room 9 2013 classroom is where everything is now. If you would like to check out my ideal classroom then you go to the top and you click on the 2nd floor and it will take you to my the classroom I would like to have. There is also a icon where you can click on to make my project in 3D. In my ideal classroom you can see I added a different shape of desks so students can choose where they would like to sit but if they don't have net-books then there are some mac computers you can use during class. I tried to be creative and when you enter our classroom you enter through the revolving doors. In the classroom I added a teacher desk a projector a whiteboard and more. I also added in a t.v on the opposite of the projector so if the teacher is writing something on the whiteboard and using the project you can watch. Also if you are watching like a clip or video you can watch it on the flat-screen t.v. You can probably use the white board for students to work on their homework and all the teacher needs to do is to watch and observe. If you look where the teachers desk is their is a door to go to their office. I created the office so the teacher can have her own quiet time and plus the teacher can do her test in her office. If your teacher is like my teacher and LOVES coffee then you would have a coffee maker in her office. I put another teachers desk, double desk, two cupboards for art supplies and the other cupboard is for like what ever the teacher would want to store inside. There is also a computable couch for the teacher to relax in but if you are working hard and you don't feel well then hopefully your teacher would let you work on their couch. Across from the couch there is a photo copier machine because my teacher copies loads of work for the students so that would be handy for the teacher to have in their office. The room that is next to the office their is a hallway so it is like a clock-bay so you can hang your bags their while you work in the classroom. If you enter through the doors the room on the left is the girls bathroom and the next room is the boys bathroom. That is my project I have made.
