Life Education

Life Education

On Tuesday we had our first session in the Life Education caravan. After the session Clair (the teacher who was teaching us through our session) gave out booklets about W.O.F.  W.o.f  stands for Warrant of Fitness. Clair was teaching us about what to eat and what not to eat.
-These are my questions:

1. Who decides what to eat?
The person that decides what to eat in the family is we all take turns like on Monday my aunty chooses what to eat and then the next person.

2. What food do you see advertised?
The type of food that you see advertised on t.v and other places are..... Fast food, vegetables, chocolate, doughnuts, Fizzy Drinks, and water

3.What should you drink?
The drink that you should drink every day is water.
There are some other drinks that are good for you like  Ribena.

Netbook Statement

Netbook Reflection:
Hi my name is Leila and I am a year 7 student at Panmure Bridge School.  This is my netbook reflection for 2012.

There are positive things about having a netbook, such as we can create presentations, we can comment on other classes or other school’s blog.  Our netbooks have spell check which is faster to mark the misspelled words, we have google docs which is easier for the teacher to mark our work, and the teacher can leave comments on our work so we can fix them.

Having a netbook can be really awesome but there are some negative things about having a netbook such as, you can have bad handwriting because you have been typing a lot on your netbook.  Some people can be on the wrong sites, and sometimes the internet is slow and your netbook might have been frozen so you would have to restart your netbook.

The unusual things about our netbooks is we have shortcuts, You can change the font to what you want, I found the google docs unusual because when I log in to my documents the google docs version has changed.

My Mum

Her hair is straight
like cardboard.

Her eyes are two
round maltesers.

Her hugs are warm and soft
as she squeezes me in her arms.

I love my mum so much
but she loves me more.

Day and Night

In the day students engage and teachers search for test papers on top of their messy desk.

In the night robbers loot the classroom and mice stare at them from on top of the solid desk.

A girl's Head

In it there is a mythical creature
and a project
for doing away with the dishes.

And there is
a spaceship
which shall come first.

And there is
an entirely  new kind of people.
an entirely new animal,
an entirely new creature.

There are people
that all look the same.

There is a car

There is anti-boredom

And it cannot be restrained.

I believe
that only what cannot be restrained
is a head.

There is much promise
in the circumstance
that so many people have heads.

Olympic Report

Olympic Report

Are you fascinated about the London olympic games? The olympics are very interesting and fun to learn about.  There are similarities and differences between the ancient and modern olympics.  The factors we have been looking at are the events, countries involved, prizes, participants and uniforms.

As I was learning about the olympics I found out that in the ancient olympic games women were not allowed to participate or watch, so they would dress as men to watch their sons compete in the games.  Now in the modern olympics games people from all different countries come and compete at the olympics, and women are allowed to compete and watch.

In the modern olympics people from different countries come and compete at the olympics.  In the ancient olympics only the greek city states were allowed to compete such as Sparta, Athens, Megara, Corinth and Argos.

In the ancient olympics the competitors that were competing were proud of their bodies so they would compete naked with oil all over them.  In the modern olympics the competitors wear a uniform such as: shorts and a singlet or t-shirt.

In the ancient olympics the competitors  who came first, second, or third received prizes of laurel leaves.  In the modern olympics the winners receive gold, silver, and bronze medals.  Also if the men started falsely they would get whipped.  Today if you false start in the sprint events you get disqualified.

The sports that were involved in the ancient olympics were: chariot races, boxing, wrestling, running, equestrian, discus, pentathlon and javelin.  Now in the modern olympics we have more sports such as: athletics, aquatics, equestrian, and combative oriental sports.

There are many comparisons and contrasts between the ancient and modern olympics.  We have found out that the modern olympics and the ancient olympics are similar but have differences in some ways.  The factors we have been learning about are: the events, countries involved,  prizes, participants and uniform.  The olympics are interesting and fun to learn about.

This is just to say

I have eaten
the chocolates
that were in
the cupboard.

And which
you were probably
saving
for yourself.

Forgive me
they were sweet
so rich
and so tasty.

I asked the little boy who cannot see

I asked the little boy who cannot see,
 ‘And what is colour like?’
 ‘Why, blue,’ said he,
‘Is like the freezing water, surrounding me in the pool,
Green is the wind racing through the leaves with excitement,
Purple must be a dark cloud sending rain drops down, And
yellow is the sweet taste of banana cake,
The rage that people let out when they're angry; that’s red.
Pink is the fluffy candy floss that I like to eat, and
white is the plain sound all around me as I sleep.’

My Intrepid Adventure

Yay!! We’re going town. I was so excited to go to town because its so fun looking at the sky tower and all the huge buildings. The reason we went into town was because it was my aunty's birthday. My aunty's birthday took place at Cowboys. Cowboys is a bar with drinks, pizza, burgers and curly fries. As soon as I took a bite of one curly fry it was so yummy I wanted to eat the whole bowl. My uncle and aunty works at Cowboys, so when we buy food and drinks we get it for free. Meanwhile my cousins and I went and sat outside of the bar and started looking at the boats. The boats were mainly white. But they were all very small. Afterwards we went over the bridge and took heaps of photos. Then we had to walk back to the bar because it was getting dark. After we cleaned up all our mess, we had to all go home in the car. I really didn't want to leave because I was having a great time. As I were watching everyone get into there car I saw people’s faces and they looked like they didn't want to leave as well. Bye town I thought as I slouched in the car.
