Reading Group

This is a reading group called Dahl. In our reading groups we read the story out loud to the group and take turns. After we have read a chapter we answer the questions that are on the white pieces of paper. We record the answers into our reading books then glue in the question sheet. This is a fun way to do reading.

L.I: To summarise information about a current event



TITLE: 'Scary' bite may mean op

WHEN: Friday May 17, 2013

WHO: The people that were involved were, Stella Twigley, her mum, the doctors.

WHERE: It happened In Pakuranga



WHAT: A girl(Stella Twigley) got bitten by a spider. The spider bit her on her finger then started to swell. The spider bite began to spread up her arm. The spider bite was getting worse, so stella had too go too the doctors. The doctors then gave her panadol and it didn't work so she went into hospital. Stella then began too feel short for breath and faint. Stella had too get surgery. The doctors said too stella that they might have too scrape the infection out of the joint in her finger.

WHY or HOW it happened: It happened because stella left it and it began too spread up her arm and causing the bite too get worse.

This is my current events I have completed in class. It was about a girl that got bitten by a spider then it started to spread up her arm. What I have learnt from this Article is that if you discover any marks on yourself you need to do something about it like see a doctor to tell someone.

This is an activity that my teacher Mrs Anderson set for the class. The activity helped me with my dictionary meanings and the games were very helpful to. What we had to do with the activity was we had to find out the dictionary meanings for the words that Mrs Anderson set. The activity was a little bit hard but it got easier and easier.

Soccer Match Room 9 and 6

This is Rooms 9 and 6 challenging each other in soccer. Room 9 won the game  and there was great sportsmanship between the teams. It was a close game with the score ending up being 1-0. Everyone shook each others hands and said "Good game". It was an awesome match.

This is my screenshot of my xtra maths result, as you can see I got none of them wrong. I have been working hard on making sure I get all of them right. The reason I got them all right is because I kept practising and I got better and better.

Year 8's in Tech

This is the year 8's at Tech. We had to do a lot of activities to help us with our drawing and to help to make our takeaway boxes. I have found Tech very helpful with my sketching and drawing. It was alot of fun and hope we get to do it again.

In Music

This is room 9 in Music. We are learning to play a bourdon. Our Music Teacher Mrs Eeles split us into 4 groups. I was part of the glockinspeil group, then I got moved to the stomping tubes. It is lots of fun in this lesson but very hard to stop at the same time when the whole group are playing.

Persuasive Language Features




L.I- You are trying too persuade schools that the punishments of 1900 make students more focused in class.

Rhetorical Question:
How would you feel if children did not respect you?

Repetition:
Remember when children used too follow the rule,remember when they used too listen?

Emotive language:
We are hard-working, children who make sure our classmates are working and have great attitude.

Exaggeration:
If you disrespect teachers in school they will cane you!

Facts and statistics:
80% of children are getting injured.

Groups of three:
Punishment is effective, immediate, and useful.



L.I- Punishment in schools was unfair in 1900.

Why did teachers hit children?

If you teachers stopped hitting children maybe they would respect more.

Playing Squash

This is Candice and I playing Squash. We had to hit the ball against the wall then the other person has to hit it. This was really fun and helped you with you fast reflexes. We were put into 3 groups and had to rotate around the hall. My group were the last group to hit the ball against the wall in the picture. At the end of our lesson Mrs Anderson took on Candice it was a great game. Some students got picked to play against one of the squash coaches. Squash is an awesome sport.

On Friday I received a certificate from tech. We had to make our own Take-away box. At tech the take-away box I created was The chocolate house. I have completed my project. This was a fun and creative activity.

Maths result

This is my maths result on fast factors. The time was counting down while I was solving the maths problems. I got all of them right. This activity was great because it helps you with your maths and also it helps you to solve it faster.

T2 Goal settings


Reflecting and Goal Setting
Term 1-2

Reading:
This term I learnt: This term I have learnt how to work collaboratively like we were in a group and one person shares the document for the whole group to work on.

My reading goal for Term 2 is..... to remember to retell information into our own words.
To achieve my goal I will need to..... work harder and keep reading and practice putting information into my own words.
Writing:
This term I learnt: What topes mean and how to write interesting stories. Topes mean T-title, O-orientation, P- problem, E- events, S-solution, then lesson at the bottom. I have also learnt all the different language features.

My writing goal for Term 2 is: Keep practicing writing stories and and I need to think hard about the tenses and plurals I use in my stories.
To achieve my goal I will need to:  Work harder on writing plurals and tenses in my stories.
Maths:
This term I learnt: How to add decimals. I have also learnt how too speed up my basic facts like we practice our basic facts every mondays.

My maths goal for Term 2 is..... To work on my decimals adding and subtracting.
To achieve my goal I will need to: Work on this at home and get people to test me.
Personal:
This term I: have been trying to work hard and when i'm away and I come back to school I catch up and get all my work finished.
